Leadwork is one of our specialities. It’s a craft that not all roofers are able to conquer and can look ugly when it’s not well executed. Lead is, without doubt, a valuable weather protection for many traditional roofs and has been used for centuries as a building material with a long life span. It’s extremely malleable and soft, making it perfect for moulding to fit the complicated shapes of some roofs. When used properly and applied skillfully, the results can last for 100 years! In addition to looking good, this is a great cost saving exercise.

Lead and the enviroment
The plus points for lead don’t end there. As we all become more aware of our impact on the environment, one major advantage of lead is that it is 100% recyclable. Interestingly, the life cycle analysis of lead has proved it to have a superior environmental profile compared with other alternatives. In fact, an astonishing 95% of lead sheet product is reclaimed and recycled at the end of the building’s life. Therefore, not only can lead be used time and time again to provide beautiful finishes, it can be done safe in the knowledge it is not contributing to Global Warming. A win-win situation!
